Giving

On behalf of the 50 health and human service Member Agencies and 16 Community Health Charities of Louisiana (CHCLA) Affiliated Agencies in our 10-parish Capital Area, thank you for choosing Capital Area United Way as the way to help in our community.

Because of generous people in our community, we are able to be the common thread that brings together community resources and the people that need them. We are able to help children in trouble through the Volunteers of America-Parker House, assist battered women and their children through the Family Violence Intervention Center, and aide victims of natural disasters through the America Red Cross, just to mention a few.

Our commitment to you is that hundreds of volunteers spend countless hours monitoring agency programs to assure your dollars are well spent and that help is given where it’s needed most.

Public Good IRA Rollover Act of 2007

The current IRA Charitable Rollover permits IRA owners starting at age 70 ½ to make tax-free charitable gifts totaling up to $100,000 per year from their IRAs directly to eligible charities without suffering a tax penalty.

This is a great incentive and is subject to expire. Please consult your tax attorney regarding your specific situation. To make an annual contribution or for more information please contact Nancy Eckert, CAUW Senior Vice President of Resource Development at (225) 382-3386 or nancye@cauw.org.
Again, thank you for choosing Capital Area United Way as the way to help.
