Yolanda Dixon

 

Yolanda Dixon is the Secretary of the Senate for the Louisiana State Senate. She was elected to this position by members of the Senate in January, 2020. Yolanda previously served as the First Assistant Secretary of the Senate, Director of the Legislative Bureau, Senate Senior Counsel, Director of the Judiciary and Government Division for the Louisiana State Senate, and senior attorney to the committees on Senate and Governmental Affairs, Local and Municipal Affairs, and Judiciary “A”. Prior to joining the Senate staff, she was an attorney for the State of Louisiana, Attorney General's office.

Yolanda is heavily involved in civic activities in the Baton Rouge community, and has served in many capacities, including secretary and board member of Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, the Baton Rouge Area Foundation, the Center For Planning Excellence, the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge, the Speech and Hearing Foundation, the Baton Rouge Chamber of Commerce Leadership Alumnae, the Capital Area United Way and Woman's Hospital. Yolanda is a Past President of the Baton Rouge Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and a Past Sustaining Advisor to the Board of Directors for the Junior League of Baton Rouge, Inc., Past President of the Junior League of Baton Rouge, Inc., and past chair of the Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Greater Baton Rouge. Yolanda is also a member of the East Baton Rouge School System Tax Oversight committee, The Baton Rouge Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, and Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Professionally, Yolanda is a member of the National Conference of State Legislatures (NCSL) Foundation Board, the Chair of the 2030 Mason’s Manual Commission for NCSL, the Immediate Past President for the American Society for Legislative Clerks and Secretaries, and has served as the President-Elect, Secretary Treasurer, Elected Principal Member, Elected Associate Member, and Associate Vice President for the American Society for Legislative Clerks and Secretaries.

Yolanda has been honored as a 2021 Business Report Business Woman of the Year, Sustainer of the Year for the Junior League of Baton Rouge, and a Volunteer Activist for the Speech and Hearing Foundation. She has received the Four Pillars award from the Girl Scouts Louisiana-East in 2022, and the Legislative Staff Achievement Award presented by the National Conference of State Legislatures in 2018.
